password

Recently many password were leaked on the internet, and most people use the same password for many services or website. For example they use the same password for Facebook, Twitter, GMail and other websites. Now in a digital world where you use many services online, including Banking, there is a need to have unique passwords for each website or service and also the password must be strong (in simple sense complicated). The problem is that you may not be able to remember complicated passwords at all. So, here I'll show you a simple way to remember complicated passwords:

STEP 1: Choose two words/phrase that you like very much (You may choose three/four - more is better). For this tutorial I'll choose "COMPLICATED" and "REMEMBER" as two phrase.

STEP 2: Write the two words in alternating lowercase and uppercase letter (or any way you like). So I'll write the above words as cOmPlIcAtEd and rEmEmBeR.

STEP 3: Replace any letters that look like a number or special character to a number/special character. A simple example is e can be written as 3, as 1o as the numerical 0a as 4 or @g as 9, and so on in a way you can create your replacement. You can even complicate more by say putting H as |-|.

STEP 4: Choose a separator between the words. Let me choose the brackets [ and ] (You can choose any separator). The separator should be known only by you. Now my password will look like c0mPl1C4T3D[]r3m3mB3R.

STEP 5: To make the above password unique for different site choose a key separator to put in between [ and ]. For example, I choose the first letter of the website and the last letter. So for Facebook it will be and k. So, my Password for Facebook will be c0mPl1C4T3D[fk]r3m3mB3R. Password for Twitter will be c0mPl1C4T3D[tr]r3m3mB3R. Password for Google will be c0mPl1C4T3D[ge]r3m3mB3R. This is the step where you can get creative and change the way you want. You can choose the first letter, middle letter and last letter. You can choose the first two letters and last two letters of a website and so on.

With these five simple step, you get to create unique, complicated and yet easy to remember passwords. And if you choose more than two words/phrase, you can always change the separator and key combinations in way you like. Well, if you think this method is still not complicated enough then you can always use password managers like LastPass which can create complicated password for you and also manage those through a secure channel in encrypted form.
